Abstract
Fiction films are conventionally seen as fanciful flights from the hard truths and banal miscellanea of real life but - as documentary maker Steve Thomas expounds, with reference to his own experience behind the camera - the realist oeuvre of writer/director Sue Brooks is characterised by a desire to capture the seemingly quotidian, in an attempt to explore the heavier implications underpinning the everyday.
