This work was initiated through seed funding from the (then) Victorian Department of Health North West Region in 2011 to the Place, Health and Liveability Program, a joint initiative between the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health's McCaughey VicHealth Community Wellbeing Unit and the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning, The University of Melbourne. This project was funded by the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Healthy Liveable Communities (#1061404), with supplementary funding from VicHealth (through the McCaughey VicHealth Community Wellbeing Unit, 2012-2016); and more recently RMIT University (Healthy Liveable Cities Group, 2017-2018). HB is funded through an RMIT University Vice Chancellor's Senior Research Fellowship; and BGC an NHMRC Senior Principal Research Fellowship (#1107672). LDK also received financial support from the Centre for Air Quality and Health Research and Evaluation, an NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence (#APP1030259).
