Three new species of acotylean polyclads (Platyhelminthes) from Queensland, Australia, with the erection of a new genus

Abstract

Three new acotylean polyclads are described from the littoral zone in Queensland. Amyris bulbosa sp. nov. (Notoplanidae Faubel, 1983) is distinguished from congeners in possessing a prominent vagina bulbosa. Emprosthopharynx heroniensis sp. nov. (Stylochoplanidae Faubel, 1983) differs from related species in lacking sub-marginal eyes and tentacles, in the anterior position of the cerebral eyes, and possessing few ruffles in the pharynx and uterine vesicles. Zygantrella queenslandensis gen. nov., sp. nov. is erected as a monotypic genus within the Ilyplanidae Faubel, 1983 differing from confamilial genera in lacking a prostate but possessing a common gonopore and a penis stylet.
