Abstract

A series of well‐defined diblock copolymers containing polyethylene oxide/poly(dimethylsiloxane) are successfully incorporated in the selective layer of a thin‐film composite membrane system, as reported on page 1500 (DOI: 10.1002/pola.27628), by Joel M. P. Scofield, Paul A. Gurr, Jinguk Kim, Qiang Fu, Andri Halim, Sandra E. Kentish, and Greg G. Qiao. The incorporation of the polyethylene oxide block provides improved compatibility with the membrane matrix and the more permeable poly(dimethylsiloxane) component. These additives result in the formation of membranes with improved performance, showing gas fluxes up to 250% of the base layer flux, while maintaining selectivity. The impact of add..
