Abstract

In this article, Viviana Moresi and colleagues review and discuss recent papers on the pivotal role of metabolism, and the interaction between cellular metabolism and epigenetics, in regulating embryonic and adult stem cell homeostasis, cell state, and differentiation capacity. These regulatory networks are crucial for understanding tissue homeostasis and determining in vitro culture conditions which accurately support cell physiology.
