Abstract

Although Western European forms of mapping are undoubtedly a form of representation – claiming authority and asserting power over people and places – when approached creatively, mapping can be a way of countering the dominant by recovering and re-inscribing hidden histories, stories, movements and narratives of place that may have been overlooked, erased or forgotten.
