Heritage of Humankind A Call for Reform of World Heritage Protection and Management in Australia

Abstract

This paper examines only the natural heritage aspects of the Convention and the implementing Commonwealth legislation. Both the Convention and the legislative regime also make provision for the protection of cultural heritage, but in Australia this has not given rise to the same degree of controversy as has attended the nomination and listing of natural heritage areas.
