Abstract
This chapter presents an overview of the structural performance of a transfer structure in Hong Kong under potential seismic actions. A hypothetical but realistic low-rise building model is developed with 7-storey reinforced concrete frame structure and reinforced concrete transfer beams at first floor. The moment curvature analyses for columns and beams are conducted using the computer program Response. The results indicate that at ultimate axial loading condition, the columns including the base columns and the frame columns have nearly reached their design ultimate inelastic strength, while the beams still have a large range of curvature ductility. Therefore columns are likely to be more v..
