Learning from the Urban Experience of Development-Induced Displacement: Operationalising Vanuatu’s new displacement policy toward an inclusive Capital city

Abstract

This paper documents some of the impacts of development-induced displacement inside the capital city of Vanuatu, South Pacific against the backdrop of a brand-new policy on displacement: Vanuatu’s National Policy on Climate Change and Disaster-Induced Displacement. Vanuatu’s new policy is an achievement. It is the first national policy on internal displacement for Vanuatu and the first such policy to be developed for any country in the Pacific.
