Handbook of the Politics of Labour, Work and Employment | Edward Elgar Publishing Ltd | Published : 2019
The management of labour is inherently political, in the sense that it involves power, control, conflict and negotiation. The political character of labour management ha sat its root the employment relationship, in which employees exchange labour for reward. This relationship is multifaceted, containing economic, social and political elements, but its political character reflects its embeddedness within capitalist structures.
