PBS outcomes measurement: A new taxonomy to support organisational implementation

Abstract

Background: Whilst outcomes measurement is important to PBS, its application in practice is not widespread. A barrier to successful implementation is knowledge surrounding outcome measures that can be used feasibly in routine practice by PBS organisations. Method and materials: We propose a simple approach for the selection of PBS outcome measures that can be used by organisations. It is based on a taxonomy that considers three questions: What outcome area is of interest? Whose outcomes are we measuring? Whose perspective are we capturing?
