Abstract

Within a long and varied program, Danae Killian performed Pieces Nos. 1, 2 and 3 from Klavierstuecke, Op. 23 by Arnold Schoenberg, between which she interpolated a reading of Nelly Sachs's poem In der Flucht, translated into English by Danae Killian. She also performed Chopin's Prelude in E minor, Op. 28 No. 4 as a resonant, emotive backdrop to Kylie Supski's recitation. The whole performance, curated by Zachary Dunbar, was given as a consciousness-raising-through-art socially empathetic response to the plight of current and past refugees.
