Meta cognition and distributed creativities in improvised music making

Abstract
Recent conceptualisations consider creativity distributed within individual, collective and social natures of learning and argue the role of social relations and the enculturation and development of learning and creativity within this experiential continuum. This paper disseminates research investigating the cognitive processes that develop creativities in musical improvisers. Reporting on a phenomenological collective case study, the study revealed engagement and development of creative thinking and shaping of improvisatory processes and expression across independent, co-operative and collaborative processes.
