Abstract

The double salt Bu4N UO2(DBP)3 [where DBP = (BuO)2POO] has been prepared. Infra-red data for this species and comparison of its spectrum with that of UO2(DBP)2·HDBP·TOPO (where TOPO = trioctyl phosphine oxide) inclines us to the view that the latter is the oxonium salt TOPO H+[UO2(DBP)3]−. Slow evaporation of a solution of UO2(DBP)2·2HDBP in carbon tetrachloride results in the formation of crystalline UO2(DBP)2.
