Nonlinear modelling of the dynamic response of pipe conveying fluid coated with FRP under seismic load: comparison of RSM and kriging approach

Abstract

In order to increase the computational efficiency of pipes conveying fluid system with fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) layer under seismic and thermal loads, the ability of response surface (RSM) and kriging models is investigated. The two models of RSM and kriging are calibrated based on the analytical data points of maximum dynamical displacements, which are obtained by analytical analysis. Three input variables as thickness-to-radius ratio (h/R), temperature and the number of FRP layers are used to build the nonlinear models.
