Abstract
© 2001 selection and editorial matter, Suzanne Dixon; individual chapters, the contributors. All rights reserved. This is a study of the terms of the Augustan marriage legislation that determined the ages by which men and women were expected to produce children, relating these ages to a passage from St Augustine which has up till now, as far as I am aware, passed unnoticed by social and legal historians.
