Blak Design Matters - National survey of contemporary Indigenous design

Over the past decade or so in Australia, there has been a discernible and increasing appetite for revealing and understanding the contributions of Indigenous people across a range of creative endeavours. Coupled with this has been a desire to engage in meaningful ways by embracing and giving visibility to Indigenous cultures. While Indigenous artists are lauded across the nation and the globe – from painters to film-makers, dancers to musicians – Indigenous ‘designers’ are largely absent and unheralded as part of this cultural acknowledgement.
