Mobile learning in sustainability education: What, When, Why and How?

Abstract

Mobile learning has proven to enhance and augment education at different levels within a wide range of disciplines and contexts. Mobile devices not only allow for learning activities to occur practically anywhere in collaboration with anyone, but also offer transformative, inclusive and innovative types of learning that continually challenge traditional pedagogical approaches. In sustainability education the ‘rise of the digital age’ (Ardoin et al., 2013) has been identified as a promising area of research and practice, requiring critical consideration from educators.
