Cultural Reciprocity in Art Schools: Making Time and Space

Abstract

As an invited symposium presenter I presented a paper on the role of art schools in fostering reciprocal relationships between contemporary Italian artists and Australian Artists. Drawing on my Italian heritage, my role as an arts educator with 40 years of experience teaching in Art Schools, and my work in philosophy, my paper focused on the work of the Italian philosopher Giorgio Agamben and his analysis of Italian culture. The paper also referenced the work of Mario Merz and his little know visit to the Riverina, NSW in the early 1970's
