On the 10th August, 2019, I gave a lecture, as part of the MCM Wind Festival, entitled: Articulation and other Ensemble Paradoxes. This was an accumulation of my continuing research since writing my book Becoming an Orchestral Musician: A Guide for Aspiring Professionals (Faber 2004). It contains some primary research – visual representations of different instrumentalist’s articulation (their interpretation and realization of different standard markings). The lecture also covered some additional findings, since I left the playing profession and entered the conduction profession.
