Concerto da Camera or Concerto da Chiesa: Questions surrounding the Oboe Concerto in E flat Major by Giovanni Alberto Ristori

In recent times an oboe concerto by the Dresden court composer Giovanni Alberto Ristori (1692–1753) has become widely available through digitisation and publication. Although Curt Rudolf Mengelberg listed this concerto in his 1916 catalogue of Ristori’s compositions, the work received greater attention when the huge collection of instrumental music that once was kept in a cupboard or cabinet (Schranck) in Dresden’s Catholic court church was digitised by the Sächsische Landesbibliothek–Staats-und Universitätsbibliothek Dresden (D-Dl).
