Mapping the evolution of relevance in climate change research

Abstract

In this research we explore the evolution of research relevance in climate change science. Specifically, we investigate the role of scientific “brokers” in the form of journal editors. We do so by conducting content analysis of journal editorials over a 36-year period to study how editors have shaped the translation of knowledge, to ensure the relevance of climate change research. We are using a novel dataset of 306 editorials on the topic of climate change and global warming appearing in the journal Nature from 1980 to 2016.
