Abstract

This chapter is an analytical attempt to study the “Quest for Islamic Identity” in the context of Ghanaian Islamic education, summarizing its formation and connection with wider Ghanaian identity. The research examines Ghanaian Islamic schools, and their curricula, seeking to understand how Islamic identity is understood in the Ghanaian Islamic educational context. It also assesses the extent to which the current systems of Islamic education in its different forms serve and adhere to the aims and objectives that led to the existence of these cultural and faith-based educational institutions.
