Abstract

Philosophers of science Thomas Khun,Michael Polanyi and Bruno La Tour (amongst others) have not only exposed some of the limitations of traditional scientific modes of enquiry, but also the ways in which the discourses of science fail to fully reflect its own modes of operation. In this chapter, I will outline some of the similarities and distinctions between two relatively ‘new’ paradigms of research: creative arts research and Indigenous research as modes of discovery that further challenge traditional approaches to enquiry.
