iPlay, iLearn, iGrow: Tablet technologies, curriculum, pedagogies and learning in the twenty-first century
Understanding Digital Technologies and Young Children: An International Perspective | Published : 2015
In this chapter I present some fi ndings from the second year of an iPad project that explored the potential of the tablets for learning and meaning-making in the early years. The fi ndings from the kindergarten (four-year-olds) and preparatory class (fi ve- and six-year-olds) are presented and discussed. It is evident that playful explorations with iPads can provide contents for learning and investigations that are rich in engagement and interest. The children in this study were highly motivated to learn with the iPad apps, and the teachers extended their pedagogical repertoire by incorporating their use in their early childhood programs.
