Abstract
Identifying, defining, and analysing the ideological dimensions of neohumanism is the central concern of this research. Neohumanism is defined as a portmanteau of neoliberal capitalism and humanism. The conceptual framework of neohumanism that has been developed can be identified and analysed in screen texts including television drama series. In this dissertation dimensions of neohumanism are defined within the context of the history of humanism. This includes an overview of critiques levied at humanism concerning a lack of understanding of alterity.
