Abstract
Co-production is where citizens and clients actively contribute to the work of delivering public services and the production of publicly valuable outcomes. This thesis examines co-production in the care of ageing populations, as one of the greatest challenges facing 21st century governments. It comprises both theoretical and applied research at the point where two literatures, in co-production and in health and social care intersect, with important implications for policy and practice.
