Supramolecular Assemblies of Cyclotricatechylene

Abstract

This thesis presents the results of synthetic and structural investigations of novel cyclotricatechylene-based supramolecular assemblies. Cyclotricatechylene is a bowl-shaped tris-catechol that has been shown to associate with other chemical species through hydrogen bonding and metal coordination. The research focuses on the synthesis and characterisation of novel crystalline supramolecular assemblies of cyclotricatechylene. The compounds described in the four experimental chapters include assemblies of cyclotricatechylene and its related anions with s, p, d and f-block elements of the periodic table.
