Abstract Background Youth (age 15-25) with Major Depressive Disorder who present for treatment have a complex range of psychopathology, and multiple areas of functional impairment. The medium-term outcome of this group, over the transition to adulthood, is yet to be prospectively studied. Prospective studies enable the identification of baseline predictors of poor outcome that can then be targets of future interventions.
