Abstract

Based on current knowledge, it is evident that EBV may actively shape lymphoma microenvironment, which is emerging as an essential component of the tumor. The virus orchestrates a variety of complex mechanisms favoring the escape of lymphoma cells from antitumor immune responses while promoting the creation of niches in which tumor cells may find support for their growth and survival. EBV is also able to promote neo-angiogenesis and evidence mainly obtained in epithelial cells indicates that the virus may also promote tumor cell invasion and dissemination. Elucidation of the role of tumor microenvironment in the pathogenesis of lymphoid malignancies is providing the framework for identifying..
