Abstract
Feminist security scholarship has largely neglected the capitalist-accumulative function of armed conflict. While this body of literature has advanced important insights into how war and violence can be productive of (gendered and racialised) identities – that is, productive of difference – the focus has been on the normative function of gender in producing power, rather than on the relationship between the normative and the material. It is not simply identities and subjectivities that are constituted through violence, but also continuing structures of political, economic, and social hierarchies that are the basis of uneven distribution of power and resources across levels.
