Correlation Between the Dose Calculated from Plan and the Dose Measured with Thermoluminescence Dosimetry in Radiotherapy

Abstract

The Department of Radiation Oncology of the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney is one of the major centres for radiotherapy in Australia. About 1600 patients are treated per year using four linear accelerators (Varian Clinac 4, Clinac 6, Clinac 10/18 and Clinac 1800), one superficial (Philips RT100) and one orthovoltage unit (Siemens Stabilipan). In addition to portal imaging for the check of patient positioning, thermoluminescence dosimeters (TLDs) are used in order to verify the treatment.
