Abstract

Most discussions of competition advocacy are framed in terms of the non-enforcement activities undertaken by competition agencies to promote a competitive environment. Competition agencies may engage in activities to raise the general awareness of the benefits of competition and competition law and to persuade governments to not take actions that will restrict competition. This chapter examines the concept of competition advocacy as it applies to tackling government restrictions on competition.
