Understanding the annuity experience

This report describes the perceptions, decisionmaking processes and various influences of annuity decision-making from the perspective of annuitants. Research was undertaken with 16 Australian annuitants via in-depth interviews, and this report presents a series of key themes unveiled through qualitative analysis. It is important to understand the broader context in which retirees are making these financial decisions. Interviewees described their broader life in retirement, including their needs and key expenses, to evaluate their financial security.
