Background: Young people have been shown to be two to three times more likely than adults to be involved in a suicide cluster. Yet, despite significant public health investment in the detection and prevention of suicide clusters, there is currently no gold-standard definition of what constitutes a suicide cluster, resulting in significant heterogeneity in way that suicide clusters are operationalised and detected.
