Abstract

Among the diverse risk factors for psychosis, clinical markers are the most commonly used in research settings and clinical practice. Such markers have been studied in high-risk populations such as participants with a familial history of psychosis or those with “basic symptoms” or a syndrome of clinical or ultra high risk. A range of clinical risk factors have been identified in these populations including subtypes of psychotic symptoms such as disorganization and unusual thought content; markers of general and social functioning; family history of psychosis; early-life trauma; obstetric complications; and cannabis abuse.
