This essay places the work of Faye Toogood in relation to a history of design and of imagination, through a discussion of her 'Night Tapestry' (2020) and 'Day Tapestry' (2020) and their reworking of works by Hendrik Goltzius (1558-1617), Jan Davidsz. de Heem (1606-84) and Jean-Francois van Dael (1764-1840).
