Abstract

IntroductionThe Weiss Functional Impairment Rating Scale–Parent Report (WFIRS-P) is an ADHD-specific instrument comprising 50 items, grouped into six domains. Parents score each item on a Likert scale (0–3 or not applicable).ObjectiveTo evaluate functional impairment using the WFIRS-P in two phase 3 studies (SPD489-325 and SPD489-326) of lisdexamfetamine dimesylate (LDX) in children and adolescents with ADHD.MethodsPatients’ parents or guardians completed WFIRS-P assessments at baseline, and weeks 4 and 7 of SPD489-325, a 7-week, randomized, placebo controlled trial incorporating a reference treatment (osmotic-release oral system methylphenidate; OROS-MPH).
