Abstract
This chapter explores the motivations for EPR deployment. When the legacy system is unable to process reliable operations data, and consolidated information becomes inaccessible to management, it has a direct bearing on profitability. For an organization operating across countries and continents, a global perspective enables it to better serve the world market. In addition, a standardized information system can provide leverage in negotiations with hardware and software vendors.
