Abstract
Abstract Although music can reinforce as well as soothe feelings of aggression and anger and thus has great potential for preventive measures, we can hardly find worked out programs to prevent violence through music in the international music therapy literature. Two music therapy approaches from off Australia and Germany are presented that generate violence-preventive effects in different ways. Cultural and contextual aspects that are considered to cause effective violence prevention are discussed. Finally, the similarities and differences between the programs are analysed and raised the question of how the different approaches can complement each other in practice.
