Abstract

Growing levels of congestion resulting from urbanization combined with increased levels of service demanded by receivers is providing enormous challenges for improving the efficiency and sustainability of urban freight systems. To address these issues, there is a need to develop and implement schemes for increasing vehicle consolidation levels as well as reducing reliance on carbon-based fuels. Future initiatives will also need to enhance safety and well being of residents.
