Abstract

Aim  Blood Matters was a project funded by the Victorian Department of Human Services to introduce sustainable improvements in hospital transfusion practice. An evaluation was conducted at two metropolitan hospitals to review progress against stated aims and identify key elements leading to changes in transfusion practice and highlight any unintended consequences.Method  During the project, each hospital chose to focus improvement efforts in key areas. Measurable, specific goals were developed.
