Socioeconomic Aspects of Demand Response

Abstract

Consumers are central to the future adoption of demand response (DR), thus socioeconomic aspects are key for its future adoption and use. When thinking about shifting electricity consumption, we have to consider the use to which that electricity is being put and how shifting that consumption impacts on the fulfillment of everyday life. This chapter discusses the specific experience of the ADDRESS project and its trials. It opens with an overview of current experiences from DR programmes and relevant literature by focusing on the key characteristics of the ADDRESS architecture.
