Abstract
This paper presents two experiments that examine the possible effects of competition (individual and team), and time constraints on knowledge hiding and knowledge sharing. Results suggest that competition plays a stronger role in knowledge sharing behaviors, but less of a role in knowledge hiding behaviors, while time, although a common excuse for not sharing, is not associated with knowledge hiding or sharing behaviors. Implications for research and practice are discussed. © 2009 IEEE.
