Abstract
Moral injury is an important new concept linked to high-stakes situations that can occur in high-risk organizations and has implications for clinical distress and occupational functioning. Moral injury is a relatively new concept but growing rapidly in popularity. This chapter examines the link between moral injury and anger, mediated by three key appraisals of potentially morally injurious events (PMIEs): betrayal (by leaders, the team, the organization); injustice (when others violate one's moral code); and shame (when one violates one's own moral code).
