Abstract
The fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a crucial element of the “One Health” concept. The presence of AMR in veterinary health care facilities presents a significant risk to animal and human health. The spread of AMR can be facilitated in such settings by the frequent interactions between animals, humans and their shared environment. This environment is an important reservoir that can be involved in the transmission of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria between animals and humans. Practice-specific environmental surveillance is likely to aid immediate identification of AMR risks and assist in implementation of efficient infection control strategies. Application of novel molecular ..
