Abstract

The coup d'état of 1936, which brought with it a brutal Civil War, meant the fall of the Second Republic and, with it, the loss of the democratic rights and freedoms achieved under the regime of April 14, 1931, among which were those acquired by women in Spain for the first time in history. As could be read in the publication Mundo feminino , in October 1931, "the Republic, Spanish women, has raised us to the exalted category of citizens, recognizing us the full rights equal to men."
