Abstract
Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS) of the compressible flow passing over a Controlled Diffusion (CD) airfoil are conducted. The objective is to investigate the turbulent flow field at moderate Reynolds numbers in the vicinity of the trailing edge, and its noise generation mechanisms. The high-order finite-difference solver HiPSTAR is used to compute the acoustic sources associated with self-noise on a real geometry of a turbomachinery component. In particular, installation effects are studied introducing a nonuniform inflow boundary condition computed by RANS which mimics an anechoic open-jet facility. Direct noise predictions from the compressible flow over a CD airfoil at moderate Reynolds..
