Narratives, insights and next steps for questions of literary knowledge and English teaching

Abstract

In this chapter, we (the book’s authors) reflect on what we have learnt through the course of our inquiry into literary knowledge and the making of English teachers. Our investigation has made us attuned to the value of our different perspectives, and the importance of a multivocal conversation when drawing out insights and key findings. Accordingly, we each respond to the questions: ‘What is literary knowing?’, ‘What is the education project of literary studies?’, and ‘What key insights has our work together generated for me?’ The structure of this chapter enables us to reflect how subject English is carried by many narratives – literary texts as well as the stories and theories taken up by..
