Abstract Background Exclusion of left atrial appendage thrombus (LAAT) by transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) is recommended in patients with inadequate anticoagulation prior to direct cardioversion (DCR) or catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation/flutter (AF/AFL).
